OHP coverage

We feel strongly that all women should have a choice in how, where, and with whom they give birth. Recognizing that midwifery care can be cost prohibitive for some, we have chosen to accept payment through Oregon Health Plan, for families who qualify.

Reviews

Feel free to read the testimonials of moms who have birthed with us in the past. Each birth experience is very unique, as reflected in their reviews.

As midwives we recognize this, and provide individualized care. We do our best to adapt both to every woman’s personal needs and preferences, and to the partially unpredictable nature of birth itself.

Breastfeeding support group

We are happy to announce that we now have a breast feeding support group at our office.

Holly, of ‘ milk and matrescence’ , is a lactation specialist and will be hosting these groups.

She is also available to schedule one-on-one lactation support.

* New dates to be announced *

Midwife Ashland Oregon Home Birth OHP Birth community

Birthing Community

It takes a village! Every second Friday of the month from 11. am - 1 pm the Elder Apothecary in Ashland hosts a

“ Birthing Community” gathering. This is a free community resource for preconception, pregnancy, birth and post partum, and also a great opportunity to meet both care providers as well as other (expecting) moms.

We often attend these community events as well (if we aren’t busy attending a birth ), so you may see us there!

Midwifery picnic, pregnancy, breastfeeding and postpartum

Artemis Midwifery picnic

Every spring & fall we have a picnic outside with previous, current, and new clients. This is an opportunity for you to meet other like-minded moms, as we tend to see you mostly individually during our visits. We also like to stay in touch with our previous clients and see how they are doing!

We get to know each other well during the journey of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, and it makes our final postpartum visit a bit less of a ‘ good-bye’ knowing that we may at least see you at these picnics twice a year :).

Childbirth Education Midwife Ashland Oregon OHP home birth water birth

Childbirth Education

Justine is a Doula and Childbirth Educator, she organizes the birth community gatherings at Elder Apothecary each month, and also offers 6 week childbirth education series to help you and your partner prepare for birth together. This is a great resource, especially for parents having their first child, or families preparing for their first home birth.

During our one-on-one prenatal visits, we will also help prepare you for birth and what to expect, and allow plenty of time for any questions you may have. The childbirth education classes provide a wonderful additional option to learn and prepare together in a group setting with other expecting families. This is also a great opportunity to build community with other parents (to-be).

“A woman in birth is at once her most powerful, and most vulnerable. But any woman who has birthed unhindered understands that we are stronger than we know.” - Marcie Macari
